Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel likes to travel. This time around for Resort 2015 Dubai was the destination of choice. The collection was a beautiful nod to the Orient of the past which was juxtaposed against the futuristic metropolis of Dubai today.
The traditional Chanel styles were re-envisioned with Eastern flair. The emblematic colour palette of Chanel was infused with touches of fuschia, midnight blue, red and floral prints. Lagerfeld reinterpreted certain elements from Oriental art with contemporary lines and forms. Tunics, harem pants, and boleros directed the range of silhouettes away from the traditional Chanel 2-piece suit. Gold embellishments and detailing represented the luxury of the East. A dream like aesthetic was created by completing looks with whismical head chains and moon motifs charms. The jet-set bouffant hairstyles complete with mod 60s eye make-up took the collation further into nostalgia. The combination of textures on show was enough for any style queen to need at least three pieces to mix and match.
