Miu Miu showed at the Palais d’Iéna in its usual Sunday slot during Paris Fashion Week. Known for incorporating sportswear into its collections, Miu Miu emphasised this aesthetic once again with its SS27 collection. A plaid skirt and jacket opened the runway, teamed with a bright pair of sneakers courtesy of the long-standing Miu Miu × New Balance collaboration. What followed was a series of Miu Miu librarians dressed as if they could quickly change for a game on the court: cropped workout tops, more colourful sneakers, swimwear shorts and warm-up jackets all made appearances across the runway.
Miu Miu Upcycled collaborated with Wrangler, reworking heritage denim inspired by styles of the late twentieth century. This brought not only novelty to the collection, but acted as key style notes to remember. The jeans came with laces zig-zagged over the zipper, staying on-theme while nodding to the early 2000s.
Vibrant polka dots also made it to the repertoire, with sequins following suit along the sides of skirts and on tops that were styled over sportier pieces. There was plenty of colour, seen not just in the footwear but across the patterns throughout the collection, from mini dresses worn over raglan-sleeve activewear to sequined tops paired with track shorts.
Fabrics went beyond the usual, offering a unique edge to the line. Suede was laminated with wax to allow for cracks and intentional creasing, showing the lived-in quality of the pieces. Walking the runway were Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Noah Jupe and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot), along with supermodel Gigi Hadid, who made her SS27 Paris Fashion Week debut at the show.
